My Story
Hey there! I'm Sam, and my happy place has always been the kitchen. For years, I worked in the corporate world, but my real passion was always at home, with a mixing bowl in my hands. I’ve always believed that baking for people is my love language. After my two energetic little boys came along, and with a firefighter husband by my side, life got a whole lot fuller (and a little bit messy!). I found myself craving an outlet that was all mine—a return to myself that filled my cup.
My Sourdough Journey
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to bake. Some of my favorite childhood memories are in the kitchen with my mom, baking everything from birthday cakes to Thanksgiving pies from scratch. I’ve always been drawn to the complexities of recipes and the satisfaction of making something with my own two hands.
As a San Francisco native, my love for sourdough runs deep, but my journey with it truly began in 2022. It started with a special delivery from a beloved cousin who was visiting from California. While my husband and I were in the hospital welcoming our second son, she was at home watching our two-year-old. She brought her sourdough starter with her and had baked us a fresh loaf to bring home. After tasting that first warm slice, I was instantly hooked.
Sourdough became my perfect creative escape. It’s a slow, patient process—a little bit of science and a lot of heart. There’s nothing quite like the smell of a fresh loaf or the perfect crackle in the crust. It’s in those moments that I truly feel like myself again.
Sourdough Sam’s Bakery is the result of that passion. It’s my way of sharing a little piece of my heart with our incredible community here in Windsor, Colorado. As a local micro-bakery, every loaf is hand-crafted and baked with love.
